How Snapchat and TikTok are fueling adult ADD and ADHD. In this short article you’ll find out how vertical video platforms like snapchat and TikTok are causing a massive decrease in human attention span (and what to do about it). Snapchat is a popular social media app that features short disappearing videos, while TikTok is a similar social media platform that features short video clips that are entertaining and funny. But are these 2 social media apps actually good for society? And what are they doing to our brain? Read on and learn all the answers!
I’m a big fan of vertical video platforms like Snapchat, Snap fuck, and TikTok. I’ve been using them since the day after they launched back in 2013. Both apps have changed my life in many ways, but now I’m worried that they might be causing me to develop a serious problem… Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or Adult ADD.
The reason why I think this is happening to me is pretty simple – the way both of these apps work is based on very short videos with no more than 15 seconds each. This means that you can watch 5 different Snaps or 3 different TikTok clips in just a couple of minutes. That’s not much time at all, which makes it impossible for your brain to focus on anything longer than a few seconds. As a result, people who use SnapChat or TikTok end up developing shorter attention spans as well, simply because there isn’t enough time to focus on something long-term.
Now that we know what TikTok and SnapChat are capable of causing us, the question is – is this a bad thing? I mean, most people don’t even realize that they have a problem until they start suffering from it, right? Well, maybe yes and maybe no. It really depends on what you do when you’re experiencing the symptoms of Adult ADD. If you’re a student or someone who works at a desk all day then you should probably follow some tips to fight off the effects of this disorder. For example, you could try taking a break every hour or two to give your brain a chance to rest by doing some physical exercise or listening to music. Another option would be to read or take notes while you’re listening to something, so that you can concentrate better later on. Also, make sure that you get enough sleep every night and eat healthy food, because lack of nutrition will also cause ADD-like symptoms.
But if you’re like me then you probably spend most of your time sitting down at home playing games or watching movies – and that’s exactly why you need to stop using those apps before it’s too late. The reason for that is that the longer you sit still and focus on things, the stronger your brain gets. So instead of wasting away your life by consuming content on a screen, you should start doing some physical exercise or reading books. Your body and mind will thank you for it!
